<p>A peripheral device (24) is connected to and disconnected from a terminal (72), without interrupting operation of the terminal. The terminal has a central processing unit (12). A first connector (32) is disposed on the peripheral device, and a second mating connector (30) is disposed in the terminal for receiving the first connector. A power source (16) disposed in the terminal provides power independently to the central processing unit and to the peripheral device through the first connector engaged with the second mating connector. The invention may be applied in general to a lottery ticket terminal.</p> |
