The reverse gear engagement device is used by braking the transmission input shaft. The gearchange slideway (3) is of a special shape, so that using the control edge, the guide pin on the radial selection track transfers an axial track onto the gearlever and the shift pin (15) connected to it. This axial track is pressed onto the gear shift fork and the disc coupling for fifth gear. The synchronising ring is thus pressed onto the wheel for the gear. The movement through the gearchange slideway to achieve reverse gear is carried out smoothly using the round guide pin.
