Aqueous rust-converter composition

A rust-converting aqueous solution (I) which protects against further rusting, has a pH of 4.0-4.5 and is based on a tanning agent. With the aim of increasing rust-converting power and the corrosion resistance of coatings, reducing toxicity and extending the range of production, the composition (I) consists of (a) 15.0-20.0 wt% oak extract as tanning agent, (b) 5.0-10.0 wt% pine needle/dwarf pine/Scotch pine bath salts, (c) 5.0-10.0 wt% oxalic acid and (d) water to 100 wt%.
