An internal combustion engine has a rotor housing (1) with a cylindrical chamber (2), a rotor (4) that rotates in the chamber (2), is linked to a driven shaft (5) and carries adjacent to its circumference at least one combustion chamber (6) which can be connected to a fuel supply (14) and to an oxidising agent supply (13), and an exhaust fume pipe. The combustion chamber (6) opens through a nozzle-shaped hole (7) into a cut-out (9) of the rotor (4) that is open towards the circumference of the rotor (4) and follows the combustion chamber (6) in the direction of rotation of the rotor (4). The rotor (4) is surrounded by an exhaust fume collecting channel (10) which substantially extends around the circumference of the rotor (4), is open towards the rotor (4) and is connected to the exhaust fume pipe.
