PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retarding polyolefin composition of improved long- term stability by mixing a composition comprising a polyolefin and a halogenous flame retardant with a specified phenolic compound and an epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:A flame-retarding polyolefin composition formed by adding 0.01-1 pt.wt. phenolic compound of the formula per 100 pts.wt. polyolefin to a flame-retarding composition comprising a polyolefin and a halogenous flame retardant. In the formula, R1 is a 1-8C alkyl; R2 is H or a 1-8C alkyl, m is 1-6, and n is 1 or 2. As the phenolic compound used, 2,2-bis[4-(3-methyl-5-t- butyl-4-hydroxyphenylpropionyloxy)ethoxy]phenyl]propane is desirable. In onder to improve the resistance to heavy metal, it is also possible to add 0.01-1 pt.wt., per 100 pts.wt. polyolefin, heavy metal deactivator. |
