摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a variable-resistance electrostimulation apparatus for cell, having continuously variable resistance of a circuit including a chamber and enabling the continuous variation of the time constant in the application of a high-voltage DC pulse through a capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A chamber 2 is charged with a cell suspension containing cells and genes, etc., and a chamber 20 is charged with a prescribed amount of a solution 26. A capacitor 10 is electrified by turning the switch 14 to a power source 8. The electric charge of the capacitor 10 is discharged to the chambers 2 and 20 by turning the switch 14 to the chambers 2, 20. The time constant (tau) of the discharge can be calculated as follows. The resistance of the chamber 20 containing the solution 26 in an amount of (v) is r0/v wherein r0 is the resistance between the electrodes 22, 24 of the chamber 20 containing unit volume of the solution 26. The combined resistance R of both chambers 2 and 20 is calculated by the formula I and the time constant tau is determined by the formula II wherein (r) is the resistance of the chamber 2. The time constant tau can be continuously varied by continuously varying the volume (v) of the solution 26.
