PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a semiconductor porcelain compsn. which is safe and has a large Seebeck coefft. at a low production cost from an inexpensive and harmless material by using a material essentially comprising ZnO and containing In as an impurity and further adding Sr as a sub-additive. SOLUTION: This semiconductor porcelain compsn. for a thermoelectric element has a compsn. expressed by the formula with x and y satisfying 0<x<5mol% and 0<y<=1 mold. With an increase in the amt. of Sr added, the Seebeck coefft. increases. When Sr is added by 1.00mol%, the coefft. reaches about 500μV/K (600 deg.C). By adding Sr, the Seebeck coefft. can be increased more than the estimated value of the semiconductor material itself as the mother material. The obtd. porcelain compsn. has a large Seebeck coefft. and can be used for various purposes such as thermoelectric power generation, electronic freezing, temp. sensors, etc. |
