PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new protein containing a specific amino acid sequence, having two C2 domains, not having a membranepenetrable domain, etc., relating to the release of a nerve transmitter substance, and capable of being utilized for the development of histamine release-inhibiting agents, insulin secretion- stimulating agents, etc. SOLUTION: This new protein contains an amino acid sequence ranging from the 1-Met to the 41-Pro in the amino acid sequence of the formula, has two 2C domains, does not have a membrane-penetrable domain and a Rab 3A-bound domain, relates to the transport of vesicles in cells, and acts as a calcium ion sensor. The agonists or antagonists of the protein are thereby useful as medicines for controlling the transport of the vesicles in the cells, such as a histamine release-inhibiting agent or an insulin secretion-stimulating agent. The protein is obtained by screening the cDNA library of a human colic cancer cell strain with a probe coding a part of the protein, inserting the obtained gene into a vector and subsequently expressing the gene in a host cell. |
