PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recording liquid having a clear magenta color, high-speed fixability and excellent storage stability and giving a fast recorded image by using a novel magenta color. SOLUTION: This recording liquid contains a color represented by formula I (wherein R1 and R2 are each H, an alkyl, an alkenyl or the like; R3 and R4 are each R1 or an aromatic ring or a heterocyclic ring; R5 is sulfo, carboxyl or the like; R6 and R7 are each a halogen, an alkyl, an aromatic oxy, a heterocyclic ring oxy, amino, cyano or the like; (p) and (q) are each 0-4; Xn is a counter ion and is null when it exists in the molecule). An example of the compound of formula I is a compound of formula II. This colorant is freed from the defects of xanthene dyes and azo dyes, and can give a magenta color having an excellent hue and used for the color reproduction of a color image. |
