PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage a buffer memory through a simple method when encoding or decoding plural pieces of superimposed character data. SOLUTION: A buffer memory 104, in which superimposed character data are stored, is controlled by an address controller 110 based on information showing the respective data nodes of address lists in an address list memory 112. When the superimposed character data of processing object are completely displayed and any superimposed character data exist before the superimposed character data of processing object inside the buffer memory 104, concerning the respective superimposed character data in the buffer memory 104, these superimposed character data of processing object are not erased but the superimposed character data are prevented from getting discontinued inside the buffer memory 104 and empty areas are made continuous so that memory management can be simplified. |
