A purified form of human DNase that comprises deamidated DNase having the amino acid scquence of the mature protein shown in figure 1 of the specification except that the asparagine residue at amino acid position 74 is replaced by an aspartic acid residue or iso- aspartate residue and that is substantially free of non-deamidated human DNase, or that comprises non-deamidated human DNase having the amino acid sequence of the mature protein shown in figure 1 and that is substantially free of deamidated DNase.
