A spirally shaped cutting blade is rotatably mounted inside a sleeve with holes in it. - A spirally shaped cutting blade is rotated at high speed inside a fixed tubular sleeve, the blade and sleeve sharing the same central axis and the internal diameter of the sleeve being the same as the external diameter of the blade. As the machine is moved over a grassy surface the blades of grass pass through holes in the sleeve and are subsequently cut. The vacuum force generated by the rotating blade sucks any cut grass inside the machine to one end of the sleeve where it can exit the machine or be collected for disposal. |
