PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly correct a direction by a navigation apparatus which is equipped with a plurality of direction detection means. SOLUTION: A track computing part 37 in which detection directions from a direction sensor 30 are stored sequentially so as to compute a track and a map matching processing part 34 which performs a map matching processing operation are contained in a processor 22 inside a navigation apparatus 21. By the map matching processing part 34, the position of a vehicle is corrected onto a road when the position of the vehicle is fitted to the road on the basis of road data 35. A direction correction part 39 corrects a direction indicating the advance direction of the vehicle to the link direction of the road, but it does not correct the direction when a direction difference condition is established. The direction difference condition is a condition in which, e.g. the direction difference between the link direction and a direction indicating the advance direction of the vehicle is large. When an error in the direction indicating the advance direction of the vehicle is large, there is a possibility that the error is increased further when the link direction is corrected. |
