A ring spinning machine has a bevelled flange (11) and ring (1) formed by a base on the ring frame and a bearing part (12) with beading (12') to secure the revolving runner (2). Their dimensions are so chosen that the bevelled flange forms a tapered, truncated cone of inner diameter (D) between 32 and 46mm, where the bearing surface (13) has a mean tilt (alpha) w.r.t. vertical of 25 to 35 deg. After less than an hour's run-in the bearing surface (13), so curved on the inside of the bearing part (12), forms a 2mm min. line of touch with the revolving runner (2) pulled by the spinning yarn. In textile ring spinning. Bevelled flange ring spinning is known to offer reduced wear and tear and increased stability of runner movement. If the flange beading is two weak the runner tends to come upright because of the centrifugal effect, jumping between two contact points on the ring and leading to instability. On the other hand a beading which is too strongly curved, i.e. R2 less than 20mm, makes contact at only one point leading to excessive abrasion. The present soln. achieves higher spin speeds and simultaneous reduction of wear and tear of ring and runner. Yarn quality is also improved, breakages reduced while early failure of the runner no longer occurs.
|
