PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain such a photosensitive material that can be substantially handled with a bright safe light (substantially in a bright room) and that shows good reproducing performance for a dot area even for a high-precision image and shows little change in the dot area with the quantity of exposure light. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic sensitive material has at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a supporting body. The emulsion layer contains at least one kind of heavy metal selected from Ir, Ru, Rh, Cr and Re by 1×10<-7> to 1×10<-4> mol per one mole of silver halide. The average particle size of silver halide particles in this emulsion layer is 0.17 to 0.28μm. At least one layer of the emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloid layers contains at least one kind of light-absorbing compd. in an amt. to give >0.20 optical density for 400nm wavelength.
