A method is claimed for the fabrication of a rectangular thermal insulation panel (1) comprising a) a first rigid plate (2) carrying a first layer (3) of plastic foam; b) a flexible sheet (4), adhering to the first plastic foam layer (3), made up of fine continuous metal leaf; c) a second layer (5) of plastic foam partially covering the flexible sheet (4); and d) a second rigid plate (6) covering the second layer (5) of plastic foam. The two layers of plastic foam (3, 5) have non-secant reinforcing fibre leaves positioned following some planes distributed through the thickness of the layers of plastic foam (3, 5). The method uses a four stage process in which the panel is assembled with shuttering for the foam layers, subjected to traction, injected with a compound which by reaction and polymerisation forms the plastic foam and the shuttering removed. |
