PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a stereoscopic image with high luminance and make an optical system small-sized and compact. SOLUTION: The light of a light source 1 is made incident on a 1st polarization beam splitter 2 and split into P wave light and S wave light, and an image for the left eye formed from the P wave length by mirror surface reflection type optical modulators 33R, 33G, and 33B for the left eye and an image for the right eye formed from the S wave light by mirror surface reflection type optical modulators 43R, 43G, and 43B for the right eye are made incident on the polarization beam splitter 2, put together, and projected on a screen 6 through a projection lens 5. |
