Terminating wire ropes reducing wire breaks at the joint

A method for making a cable terminating joint for wire ropes is done using a pear-shaped casting where a sleeve which grasps round the rope is inserted into the lower end of the shell forming the casting. The sleeve (4) is made from a softer material than the shell (2) and the section outside the shell is so dimensioned that its outside diameter extends beyond that (D2a) of the shell at the casting end. This protrusion relative to the shell is flattened by compression moulding.
