Gas-cooled electrical machine e.g. turbogenerator with indirectly cooled stator winding

A gas-cooled turbogenerator has a double-layer stator winding and a fan on each side of the machine to force a cooling gas stream through the winding. There are some non-metallic filler blocks between neighbouring coil sides in the peripheral direction in the overhang which narrow down the free flow passages between oil sides so that the gas is guided essentially inwards or outwards in the radial direction. The filler blocks have an elongated central section with end pieces, the peripheral width of the central section being less than the spacing between adjacent coil sides. Between the central section and the coil sides are placed cooling elements.
