<p>To control the speed of a textile machine drive in the form of a variable frequency electric motor (32), an analogue signal (Ua), functionally dependent on the machine, is generated and continuously processed in a controller (2). The controller computer section (3) or a control section (36) of a frequency converter (34) processes Ua and stored digital control quantities (N1,N2,N3) to produce an analogue value which is further processed in the frequency converter control section to set the intended frequency value for the motor (32).
