PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish a smooth expansion of an air bag at the initial stage of development, by making a clearance exist between the peripheral surface of an inflator and a deffuser at least during the time when a gas is generated. SOLUTION: An inflator gas injected from a nozzle 1a existing deflected in an inflator 1 is regulated by the nozzle holes 4a of a deffuser 4, and fed into an air bag. The deffuser 4 is a bent surface form of current plate, and covers the periphery of the inflator 1 fixed to a case 3. The nozzle holes 4a are provided by dispersing, and as a result, the gas flow is never deflected in one side. By regulating the volume of the clearance, the number of the nozzle holes, and the total sum of the area, in the form balancing with the output characteristic of the inflator 1, the gas amount fed to the air bag is regulated with the lapse of time, and the air bag can be expanded smoothly at the initial stage of development, and it can be expanded smoothly also in the following stage. |
