摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent offset printing aptitude (piling) by specifying the initial contact angle of the surface of a thermosensitive recording layer with water and specifying the change speed of the contact angle. SOLUTION: In a thermosensitive recording material containing a usually coloress or light-colored dye precursor and an electron acceptive compd. reacting with the dye precursor at a time of heating to allow the precursor to form a color, the initial contact angle of the surface of a thermosensitive recording layer with water is 60 deg. or more and the change speed of the contact angle is 3 deg./sec or less. By setting the initial contact angle and the change speed of the contact angle to specific conditions, the excessive surface wetting of the thermosensitive recording layer with damping water or the penetration of damping water into the thermosensitive recording layer is suppressed to hold surface strength and excellent offset printing characteristics free from piling can be obtained. Further, by adding fluoroplastic to the thermosensitive recording layer, two specific conditions of the initial contact angle and the change speed of the contact angle can be easily satisfied.
