<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use coffee residue and to obtain an effective biological deodorizing device by using carbonized coffee extraction residue as a carrier for a packing layer of a deodorizing column of a packing type biological deodorizing device and the like. SOLUTION: Carbonized coffee extraction residue is used as a packing carrier of a packing layer 5 in a deodorizing column of a packing type biological deodorizing device. The carbonized coffee extraction residue is produced by baking in steam at 400 deg.-1000 deg.C to obtain >=80% carbonization rate and the diameter of the carbonized material is >=1mm. First, a column is packed with the carbonized coffee extraction residue, on which bacteria to oxidize sulfur or nitrogen are sprayed, fixed and grown. Malodorous gas is introduced by a specified rate into the packing layer 5, while water is sprayed from a spraying device 6 on the carbonized coffee extraction residue. By this method, the malodor gas is absorbed and adsorbed by the bacteria and biochemically decomposed by oxidation and deodorized.</p> |
