The case (1) for a cigarette packet (2) is combined with a lighter (4) having a band fastener (6) which is fixed by simple pressure to a similar band fastener (5) on the case side. The case has four sides forming a semi-rigid plastic or cardboard sheath which can be folded flat for storage. It is formed from two parts which can slide in each other so as to allow adjustment of the width and/or depth of the case for adapting to different packet sizes. The front small side and the rear side do not have any fastening bands but have windows (9,10). These enable the user to see the logo on the cigarette packet. The base of two sides has flaps (7) or internal ribs for holding the cigarette packet.
