A guide (1) acting on the diagonal belt (4) is fixed via a flexible connector to an anchorage on the carbody or seat back structure. The belt can be selectively inserted in the guide without tool aids. The belt may be inserted using a hook eyelet as a guide so the belt can be threaded through to allow free tension and assured tensile loading in the forwards direction. The guide can also be designed as a clip to accept the belt (4) or again as a shackle or chain link. Finally the guide can be in the form of a bayonet fastening, and the flexible connector specified can be fixed in place and removed without the help of tools.
