The control device provides a driver command for a switch operating element (104) in response to a switch command for changing the conversion ratio of the automatic transmission, by switching a valve (105) for altering the oil channels. The operation of the accelerator pedal is detected, with selection of a switching delay for the driver command upon a subsequent increase in the engine revs, with timed disengagement of a first clutch (106) and engagement of a second clutch (107).
