A method of molding a preform for molding a synthetic resin vessel and a synthetic resin vessel itself. In a preform (70) comprising an opening (72), a cylindrical body portion (74), a bottom portion (76) for blocking an end of this body portion (74) and inner walls (78) formed from one surface of the inner wall of the body portion to the other surface and erected from the bottom portion (76), the distribution of wall thicknesses of the inner walls (78) is made to be the maximum at connecting ends (84) with the inner wall of the body portion and to be gradually thinner toward the center, so that a most suitable preform for molding the synthetic resin vessel having the inner walls can be obtained. Furthermore, forward end blocks (172) provided at the forward ends of drafting rods (170) are provided close to the center of the longitudinal axis of the preform (70) and drafting operations by the drafting rods (170) and blown air are performed in each of areas defined by the inner walls (78) to thereby make biaxial stretching blow-in molding of the synthetic resin vessel, thus molding the synthetic resin vessel having the inner walls without impairing the appearance thereof.
