PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decide optimum recording power by obtaining a normalized inclination from a recording signal amplitude corresponding to reproduced recording power and evaluating properness of recording power. SOLUTION: A recording signal amplitude corresponding to recording power is monitored from a regenerative signal from a recording and reproducing pickup 13 by a recording signal amplitude monitor circuit 17, and the normalized inclination is obtained in accordance with a prescribed expression by an inclination calculating circuit 18 from test recording power set by a recording power setting circuit 15 and a recording signal amplitude monitored by the recording signal amplitude monitor circuit 17. Based on this inclination, properness of recording power is evaluated by a control part 16 to make a recording power setting circuit 15 set the optimum recording power. Then, a laser is driven to be emitted with this optimum recording power by a laser driving circuit 14, and information is recorded on an optical information recording medium 11 by the recording and reproducing pickup 13 with a beam of the optimum recording power. |
