FIELD: gas cleaning and/or cooling. SUBSTANCE: in the offered method and device gas comes in contact with finely divided liquid. Finely divided liquid is supplied in form of mushroom shells or linear curtains in regular positioning, distributed in two or more planes square to direction of gas main flow. Finely divided liquid is supplied so that gas is alternately concentrated and distributed due to pulsed action exerted on gas by liquid in direction perpendicular to direction of gas main flow. Orthogonal distance between adjacent planes, in which finely-divided liquid is supplied, is regulated so that significant equalization of gas flow between planes is absent. Liquid supply in adjacent planes is carried out so that it occurs in the plane located downstream of gas flow where passing gas is concentrated due to pulsed action of liquid supplied in plane located just upstream.
