PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the waste in an ink consumption, and accurately draw the ink in an ink feeding passage by controlling the movement of each cap member which comes into contact with or separate from a recording head, and the movement of a sealing member to close or open a communicating passage which communicates the inside of the cap member with the atmosphere. SOLUTION: For caps 31A, 31B corresponding with recording heads 25A, 25B, the connection and releasing to/from the recording heads 25A, 25B are controlled by a capping means. The operations of respective pumps 33A, 33B are controlled by a negative pressure suction control means. The opening/closing of atmospheric communicating passages 315A, 315B which are respectively provided on the caps 31A, 31B, and communicate with the atmosphere, is controlled by an atmospheric releasing valve control means which controls the movement of a holder to guide the movements of sealing members 400A, 400B. In addition, the capping control means, the negative pressure suction control means, and the atmospheric releasing valve control means are controlled by a control means of an ink jet recording device. |
