FIELD: heat treatment of metals. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes immersion into the medium of thermal probe heated, for instance, to quenching temperature and measurement of the medium cooling capability by registering the relationship of temperature difference between two pints spaced along the height of thermal probe. One point is taken in the lower part of thermal probe where stabilization of front of change of boiling conditions of liquid quenching medium takes place on thermal probe surface, and the other point is selected at the distance from the first point within which uniform movement of front of change of boiling conditions of quenching medium is ensured. The thermal probe for embodiment of the offered method consists of heat-insulated leg with the help of protective tube and working part in form of cylinder (L/2R ≥ 4) ending from atop in hemisphere to which leg is connected, and ending from below in cone (with angle at vertex of 60-90 deg) with needle. Made on cylinder-cone boundary are successively located recess and rib stabilizing movement of front of boiling conditions change. Arranged in thermal probe are two thermocouples. EFFECT: higher content of information on processes occurring in liquid quenching medium in nonuniform cooling of parts of intricate configuration. |
