Effect, economical production of open cell mouldings by removing filler

- In the production of open-cell mouldings, filler mouldings are in a mould and in contact with this only at points and the empty space between the individual filler mouldings is filled with a fluid, unpolymerised or uncured (pre)polymer, then the (pre)polymer is polymerised or cured to form a composite and the mouldings are dissolved with solvent and/or thermal treatment to give a moulding with open-cell structure. The novelty is that the filler mouldings comprise polymer matrix, which has a liquid content of >= 0.5 to 97 wt.% and/or undergoes a volume shrinkage of >= 3 to 97 vol.% on thermal treatment.
