Several work components are arranged on an appropriate carrier and several support components are arranged on a corresponding carrier connected to the roller core. With a freely rotating roller, the work diameter of the work components is greater than the effective diameter of the support components, so that only the work components come into contact with the vehicle surface. Several work component carriers (4) are provided in the axis direction of the roller next to each other at a counterposed distance that the work areas of their work components (9) at least abut. The work component carriers are rotatable relatively to the roller core (1). The support components (2) extend between adjacent work component carriers.
