<p>A new type of cholesterol-lowering composition useful as a drug, which comprises a pharmacologically effective amount of a thiazolo[3,2-a]azepine derivative of general formula (I) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmacologically acceptable carrier wherein R1 is hydrogen or a a thiol-protecting group; R2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted heteroaryl, lower alkoxy or lower alkylthio; R?3 and R4¿ are each independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, optionally substituted aryl or optionally sustituted heteroaryl, or alternatively R?3 and R4¿ together with the carbon atoms to which they are bonded may form a ring; R?5 and R6¿ are each independently hydrogen or lower alkyl; R7 is hydrogen or a carboxyl-protecting group; and n and m are each independently 0, 1 or 2.</p> |
