PURPOSE:To obtain a compound useful as an adhesion promoter, an additive for fiber treatment, glass sizing agent, etc., in high yield by reacting an organic Si-containing isocyanic ester with an isocyanic ester containing no organic silicon in the presence of a basic catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An organosilicon group-containing isocyanic ester of formula I (R<1> is 1-4C alkyl; R<2> is 1-4C alkyl or phenyl; R<3> is 2-4C alkylene; (a) is 0, 1 or 2) (e.g. isocyanic acid 3-trimethoxysilylpropyl ester) is reacted with an isocyanic ester of the formula R<4>NCO (R<4> is 2-4C alkenyl) (e.g. allyl isocyenate) in the presence of a basic catalyst of the formula MOR<5> (R<5> is H or 1-5C alkyl; M is alkali metal) (e.g. potassium t-butoxide) to give an organosilicon group- containing isocyanurate formula II (R<6> is group of formula III or R<4>) (e.g. 1- trimethoxysilylpropyl-3,5-diallylisocyanurate). |
