A device (10) for checking the seal of flow-wrapped packages (1) has a strip checking balance (11) and an upstream equalising strip (12). The flow-wrapped packages (1) are mechanically preloaded by the equalising belt (12) consisting of two conveyors (13, 14) to allow air to be released through any leaks. In the region of the strip checking balance (11) there is an entry belt (28) with a rotatable height feeler belt (35) above it. The height feeler belt (35) loads the top of the sachets (1) conveyed on the entry belt (28). The (maximum) deflection H of the height sensor belt (35) is transmitted to the control unit (25) of the device (10) as an input valve which assesses the (maximum) deflection H as a measure of the leakage from the flow-wrapped packages (1). By means of the device (10) and the process used therewith, it is possible to detect the leakage from flow-wrapped packages (1) very accurately. |
