PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video decoder for MPEG in which the number of stages in entire pipeline and the number of buffers can be decreased by executing an execution length decoding operation just before executing an inverse transforming operation. SOLUTION: A bit stream is divided into a parameter and data by a syntax decoder 110 and decoder by a variable length decoder 112. Afterwards, the parameter is decoded by a parameter decoder 114, and the data are outputted for the unit of block after successively executing processing due to an inverse quantizer 116, inverse scanner and execution length decoder 120. On this stage of preprocessing, the execution length decoding operation due to the execution length decoder is finally performed. Thus, the video decoder for MPEG, which can be constituted while using the much less number of buffers by facilitating control by reducing the number of stages in pipeline, is provided. |
