The error block detecting/correcting device of image data is capable of detecting a pixel block where an error occurs due to channel noise by using continuity of image, upon the transmission of the image data which is coded by vector quantization or DCT conversion. The error block detecting/correcting device of image data having a vector quantizer(20), a binary index processor(21), and a channel(22), comprises: a reverse vector quantizer(23) for reverse-quantizing the image data transmitted through the channel(22); a DCT processor(24) for DCT-converting the image data into 4*4 pixel block unit to obtain a DCT coefficient; an error block detector(25) for detecting the error of the DCT-processed 4*4 block; and a post-processor(26) for post-processing the error of 4*4 block detected in the error block detector(25) to correct the error.
