A method for mfg. a refrigerated container (1) for cold storage of organic waste, comprises converting an existing waste container by installing at least one cooling device.The container comprises the following sections: (a) a rear wall and top side (4) that combine to form a top rear corner area, whilst the front (6) of the container have a sealable opening (7) for emptying waste from the container; (b) coupling bodies (14, 15) for enabling the container to be lifted by a transport vehicle; and/or (c) connector pieces (16, 17) which allow the container to be secured to a tipper device used to empty the container. An extra inlet is provided in the container or in its existing outlet to allow the cooling device to be installed in the top rear corner area of the container, where it is held in place by fasteners. The device contains condenser and compressor units inside a pref. thermally insulated vessel, and evaporator units outside the vessel but still in the top rear corner area. The inside of the container is provided with thermal insulation material, inside which is a layer of protective material. The above refrigerated containers are also claimed. Pref. the insulation material comprises sheets of Frigolite (RTM). |
