PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure superior mechanical strength by using aggregate, kaolin type clay and aluminum prim. phosphate as principal starting materials and forming a honeycomb structure. SOLUTION: Aggregate such as aluminum hydroxide of about 1μm median particle diameter is blended with kaolin type clay such as kibushi clay in a weight ratio of 1:1 to 9:1 and a proper amt. of aluminum prim. phosphate is added. An org. binder and water are further added and they are mixed with a mixer and kneaded with three rolls, etc. The resultant body is extrusion- molded in a metal mold having a honeycomb structure with a vacuum extruder to form a continuous molded body whose section has a honeycomb structure. This molded body is cut to a proper length, dried and fired at >=450 deg.C in the air for >=2hr to obtain the objective ceramic molded body having a honeycomb structure. |
