PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform medium multiplexed data transmission between an analog transmission line and a digital transmission line by incorporating all required functions for medium multiplexed data communication in one device. SOLUTION: A full duplex/half duplex/LAP(link access protocol) control part 2 applies a full duplex communication processing, a half duplex communication processing and an LAP control processing to parallel data DP1. The input/ output of a line side are connected as general purpose data DP2 to a medium multiplex/demultiplex part 3, connected to a PCM sound CODEC 5 or connected to a data modem 7 depending on the operation mode. The medium multiplex/ demultiplex part 3 inputs serial data DS1-3 and the general purpose data DP2 and forms transmission multiplexed data. Also, it demultiplexes data from reception multiplexed data and respectively outputs them as the serial data DS 1-3 and the general purpose data DP2.
