PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for prepn. by which a photopolymerizable layer is substantially uniformly improved in a direction crossing a web without the fluctuation in its thickness. SOLUTION: The layer of a photopolymerizable compsn. is formed by feeding this compsn. to an extruder. This layer is calendered 18 to form the web 25. Next, the tensile force in the transporting direction of the film is impressed on this web 25. The web 25 is then cooled. The respective end sides of the web 25 are clamped by nip rollers 50 having the axis inclined with a certain angle from the perpendicular to the transporting direction of the film, by which first force is impressed on the web 26. At least one second force is preferably impressed on the web 25 perpendicularly to the transporting direction of the film in addition to impressing the first force to the web 26.
