<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent transfer property and a stable charge amt. against changes in environment and to stably obtain an image of high quality by depositing silica treated with a specified fluorine-contg. quaternary ammonium salt on the surface of toner particles. SOLUTION: Silica treated with a fuorine-contg. quaternary ammonium salt expressed by formula I is deposited on the surface of toner particles. Or, it is preferable to deposit silica treated not only with a fluorine-contg. quaternary ammonium salt but further with a hydrophobic agent. In formula I, (n) is a positive integer, (m) is a positive integer, R1 -R4 are H or 1-10C lower alkyl groups or aryl groups, and X<-> is an org. or inorg. anion. As for the fluorine- contg. quaternary ammonium salt used, such a compd. as expressed by formula II is preferably used. In formula II, (n) is 3 to 30, (m) is 1 to 10, R1 , R2 , R3 are CH3 , C2 H5 or C4 H9 . The amt. of the fluorine-contg. quaternary ammonium salt used for the treatment is preferably 0.5-20wt.% to the silica.</p> |
