PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain high-quality images free from not only drop-outs but rough feel and toner fogging as well by well developing dot distribution electrostatic latent images by means of a magnetic brush of two- component developers. SOLUTION: The two-component developers formed by using magnetic carriers of 30 to 150emu/cm<3> in the intensityσ1000 of magnetization in a magnetic field of 1000 gauss are used. The moving speed VD of a photosensitive drum in a developing section and the moving speed VS of a developing sleeve are|VD|<=|VS|. The relative circumferential speed ratio VR/VD=(VS-VD)/VD of the ratio of the difference VR=VS-VD and VD thereof is so determined as to satisfy the relation 2.0<=|VR/VD|<=4.0 when the outside diameter of the photosensitive drum is >=30mm and 0<=|VR/VD|<=4.0, the relation 0<=|VR/VD|<=4.0 when the outside diameter of the photosensitive drum is below 30mm. |
