PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a waveform for driving a head from information approximating a head driving waveform being applied to a print head by providing a step for producing a head driving waveform approximated based on approximating information inputted to a step for inputting tangential approximation information. SOLUTION: The tangential approximating section 102 of an approximating information generator 100 is fed with a head driving waveform and a waveform approximating method is designated for an inputted head driving waveform. The waveform approximating method includes methods A and B which are common in the point that the head driving waveform is subjected to linear tangential approximation. For example, the number of tangential lines, i.e., the number of sections to be approximated, is determined according to method A and a specified width is assigned to each section. The line connecting the extreme left end and extreme right end of head driving waveform is determined as an approximation line for each approximating section and the all approximation lines are connected thus approximating the head driving waveform. |
