PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a high density and well-preservable image to be created by forming a chelate image on a highly sensitive image receiving material, especially through chemical reaction with a metal source. SOLUTION: This thermal transfer recording material contains at least, a pigment shown by formula (I) on a support and this thermal transfer recording method uses this material. In the formula, X is a group or an atomic cluster capable of forming chelate at least, at two positions, Y is an atomic cluster forming a 5- or 6-membered aromatic hydrocarbon ring or heterocycle, R1 , R2 are hydrogen atom, halogen atom or univalent substituent, and n is 0, 1, or 2. |
