THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER COMPOSITION, PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF THE COMPOSITION, AND LOWLY PERMEABLE HOSES PRODUCED BY USING THE SAME

A thermoplastic elastomer composition which is excellent in the resistances to permeation of gases and moisture and flexibility and is well balanced among these properties and which is suitably usable for various hoses necessitating these characteristics; and a process for the production thereof. The above composition is a blend which comprises (A) a thermoplastic elastomer composition containing an elastomer component dispersed therein at a weight ratio of the elastomer component to the thermoplastic resin component of 10:90 to 80:20 and (B) an incompatible functional resin material having a DELTA SP value exceeding 1, satisfies the following relationship (1), and has a volume fraction of the resin material (B) controlled to be 1 to 40 % and which exhibits various functions (such as adhesiveness, antistatic properties, permeation resistance, ultraviolet absorbing properties, biocompatibility and so on). In said relationship (1), phi A, eta A = volume fraction of the thermoplastic elastomer composition containing elastomer dispersed therein, and viscosity thereof in melt kneading, and phi B, eta B = volume fraction of the composition comprising the functional resin and viscosity thereof in melt kneading.
