The lift cage is made up of components which are fixed together and incorporate a support made from a vertical panel (102) on each side of the cage, extending from top to bottom and having a flat surface towards the interior of the cage and outward-facing reinforcing folds at the sides. Each panel is fixed at the top to a cross-member, and at the bottom to a lengthwise member (101) made from sheet metal folded to give a C-shaped reinforced cross-section with its upper part fixed to the cage floor. The vertical panels are fixed to the outer vertical walls of the lengthwise members, an are pierced with holes to take an anti-fall unit and flat steel bars forming a lower cross-member.
