The adaptor has two lateral stabilisers formed by single acting hydraulic jacks (6) and return springs (3), which enable the arms (2) to be raised into the required position, whether the arms are clamped together or separated. By operating the control lever (10), which acts on the eccentric (11), the towing bar of the tool, is disengaged and this permits the new tool to be presented to the adaptor. The towing balls are held in position, by the action of the iron plates (8) on the plane of the balls, which permits the engagement of the new tool.
