A skate assembly having a skate chassis (3), a boot (2), and a motive member (4) such as rollers or an ice skate blade. The skate chassis has an elongated body (10), a heel member (12), and a toe member (14). The body has concave portions (32) which reduce torsional flex on the chassis. Raised ribs (30) and channels (50) of the body and the members are engaged so as to allow the members to slide longitudinally along the body. The boot can be mounted on the heel and the toe members and the motive member can be attached to the chassis, thus forming a skate assembly. The toe member has a curving plate (60) for preserving the shape of the boot. Moreover, the heel and toe members can be positioned at numerous distances from one another on the body, thus supporting different sizes and providing different positions for the boot on the body.
